Happy Lovers Day

For all the lovers out there. I’m not so keen on the sappy, commercial idea behind Valentines Day, but I do think it’s nice to reflect on how special love is every now and then. And whether you have a significant other or you’re an independent soul, there’s no harm indulging in a bit of lingerie. This delicate Pleasure State bra is the perfect antidote for everyday life; uncomplicated and a little bit sexy. Happy Valentines!

These shots are from a test I did with Monika Radulovic (Vivien’s) late last year. I don’t spend much time in the studio, but it’s nice to mix it up every now and then. There’s no doubt I prefer the organic quality of natural light, but I’m learning to love the controlled environment the studio offers. I think because I have no formal training (read: no training) it’s easier for me to gallivant around the streets than deal with the more technical side of things. Either way, I’m pretty pleased with how these shots turned out. Largely thanks to the fact that Monika is such a natural beauty and the clothes pretty much speak for themselves. Boyish tees and sexy lingerie; so good.

Elisse

I saw Elisse at a launch earlier this week, and in a sea of carefully considered outfits, her style just felt so relaxed and at-ease. I’m not saying I don’t like dressing up or having an excuse to wear my favourite heels, but sometimes less is more. What struck me about her was the paired-back simplicity; a quiet confidence that drew just me in. And with her dark-rimmed glasses and buttoned up shirt, Elisse’s look really was perfection!

The Statement Shirt

There’s nothing better than a good shirt. So simple, tailored and easy to wear. It’s not really my usual style, but I just love the clean lines and delicate fabric. And there’s something very Celine about the geometric shapes which I definitely don’t mind either. I’m sure I wax lyrical about the perfect shirt all the time, but you can never get too much of a good thing. Plus, these two are a little bit different. I picked them up at a nameless boutique overseas last year, and even though it seemed excessive at the time, I’m glad I brought them both. I generally play it pretty safe with my wardrobe, so it’s fun to mix it up every now and then. Even it is just with a two-tone shirt.
