Dark Details

Shop the look: Dion Lee blazer (similar), Faith Connection dress, Dylan Kain bag, Zara pony hair flats (similar here and here)

A few things which are always on high rotation, no surprises that they are all black. I bought this Dion Lee blazer at a sample sale two years ago and have worn it pretty much every week since (side note – sample sales in Sydney are ridiculously good – always worth your time).

Dylan Kain is a relatively new luxury accessories brand from Melbourne, and so far their pieces have all been perfectly on point. Clean shapes with just the right amount of embellishment in beautifully supple leather. It’s nice to see an accessories label nailing the allusive middle ground; bridging the gap between super expensive and super cheap (aka disposable) handbags. And then these Zara pony hair flats, which may not be the most original shoe on the block, but for their price I’m digging them anyway.

In Colour

From a very consumerist perspective, I’m always rather jealous of girls who are brave enough and cool enough to buy coloured handbags. You carry a bag almost everywhere, so it just seems like a sensible idea to pick the most versatile, timeless one possible. Black (of course), not too big, not too small, with a convenient shoulder strap. Don’t get my wrong I love my black beauty, but I feel like this three tone orange PS11 is the perfect antidote to all sensible shopping tendencies.

In The Details

More often it’s the little things, the details, which spark our interest. When only a snippet is revealed, and the rest is left to the imagination, the mind can run free. When the usual personality indicators (body language, expression etc) are replaced a pair of heels mid step, or a bag clutched to the waist, it adds an element of intrigue. Who is this person? Where are they going? And do they have a kind face? Questions which keep it interesting.
