Chop Chop

Milly black lace blouse, bralet crop top and hair by Easton Regal

I was all about the tentative trims and infrequent visits to the hairdresser for years. The goal was luscious mermaid hair – but sadly my hair is destined to sit four inches below the shoulder and no longer. Then in March I was swayed by the growing list of beautiful ladies who had embraced the chop (Daria, Karlie Kloss, Man Repeller et al) and cut off an inch or two.

Ironically, after years of trying to grow it, the length came back pretty quickly (I blame the London water). So this week I took visit to the good people at Easton Regal Hairdressing; rather conveniently located in East London (and walking distance from my place). The salon’s namesake speaks the truth, it’s regal alright. Two stories, spacious, filled with natural light and hardwood floors; basically all the good stuff.

Jade touched up my roots with just the kind of delicate hand I like; subtle and ashy. Then Holly Rose took off some length and added a few layers. These ladies are my kind of hair stylists; they have their own touch but still know how to keep things natural.

The reality is, when you find a good hairdresser you have to hold on to them! So if you’re new to London or in the market for a hair stylist, get in touch with the fine people at Easton Regal here.

Spring Green

Shop the look: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, Acne asymmetric waistcoat, Uniform Studios silk shirt (similar), Watson x Watson leather pants (similar here and here), Comme des Garcon wallet, Dieppa Restrepo loafers (similar here and here)

I’ve always had a thing for green (as evidenced here, here and here), and while I can’t quite pinpoint why, it’s nice to break free from the usual black, white and grey every now and then. This waistcoat/vest/gilet by Acne is both strange and awesome all at once. Structured minimalism and bold colour; pretty much made for each other.

I coaxed my better half to take these snaps when we were headed out for drinks in the evening sun. The days are finally longer and the evenings are filled with light and warmth. The start of the best time of year for sure!

When it comes to an effortless sense of style, Scandinavians just seem to do it better. It’s all about the power of minimalism, tailoring and great fabrications. So I teamed up with up with Danish blogger Marie of Blame it on Fashion for Vogue Australia’s Style Spy to shoot a few of her favourite new season looks and talk about what sets Scandinavian style apart.

Yasmin

Shop Yasmin’s look: black bowler hat, navy blue peacoat, colour block shirt, dark boyfriend jeans here and here, navy clutch, and nude pumps here and here

How good is Yasmin’s cropped hair? I don’t know what it is, but women with short hair just seem to look cooler, and Yasmin’s chin length curls only serve to prove that point. Plus, I always love a lady in an over-sized coat and heels. There’s something about the structured masculinity paired with the feminine heels that always looks so effortessly chic.
